About the Artist
Catherine was born in Melbourne and has had an interest in photography since she was given her first instamatic camera. At the age of nine she took her first photo reportage on a family outing when the road ahead was blocked by an overturned truck. She has maintained her interest in the undercarriage and mechanical workings, shapes and patterns found in industry and architecture all her life.
Catherine also has an eclectic visual taste as is demonstrated in her whimsical compositions of objects and nature.
Shooting with an SLR Ricoh KR5 for most of her life, apart from a brief experimental period when she re-commissioned a 1960s Box Brownie, Catherine has recently succumbed to the ease of digital imagery and now uses a Canon Ixus.
